Exploring the World of Wine with Matter of Wine
This was a night where both wine enthusiasts and curious beginners gathered at Prep Cooking Classes for an unforgettable evening hosted by Matter of Wine with Murphy Perng.
This event was both educational and fun, offering a guided tasting of four distinct wines—two whites and two reds. The sampling included Paris Valley Road Sparkling Wine from California, Tramontane Côtes Catalanes Macabeu from France, Domaine Cavallier Saint Guilhem-le-Desert Cabernet-Syrah from France, and Portalupi 'Lupi California Blend.
This was my first time attending a wine tasting event and it had been an incredible opportunity to learn about the characteristics of each wine, from its origins to the distinctions of the colors, smell and taste. I never realized the complexity of a wine's composition, climate, and color, or how these factors contribute to curating a great wine.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the evening was learning how to properly smell and taste wine. If you ask me, I could not smell all the different aromas that others could detect. Tasting each wine was even more eye-opening, as I discovered layers of flavors I had never noticed or even knew about before. This hands-on experience gave me a greater appreciation for wine. Hopefully, I will be able to use my knowledge the next time I pick out some wine.
Overall, the Matter of Wine event was an exceptional experience—both informative and fun. Murphy is very knowledgeable on all things wine.
