Become a Host Family for Japanese Students!

February 16, 2016
Win a $25 gift card to a major restaurant (specific restaurant to be determined) to one of the families who sign up to be host family with the California School of English this term.

Make sure to mention Macaroni Kid when you sign up with the school! A winner will be drawn via random.org in mid March and will be announced in that week’s newsletter.

California School of English is a premier English language school based in Southern California and the perfect place for Japanese exchange students to get a jump start on learning the skills they’ll need to succeed in the international world while also getting a once-in-a-lifetime experience to travel abroad and learn about new cultures.

The school’s most popular program, the English and American Experience, is offered year-round for both groups and individual international students. Designed for students aged 13 to 17 years old, the program includes:
  • Morning English lessons
  • Supervised afternoon activities, excursions and tours of popular places of interest
  • Homestay accommodation with all meals included
  • All transportation
We are looking for suitable host families who will open their doors and provide a comfortable, homelike environment for students this coming March. The students will be arriving from the western part of Japan and will enroll at the Rancho Santa Margarita location from March 25th to April 4th over the spring break.

There are many benefits to in becoming a host family which include:
  • Hosting international exchange students is an unforgettable cultural experience for both the students and host family
  • Form lifelong relationships with someone across the globe
  • You will feel a sense of pride in sharing your traditions
  • Families will receive a modest weekly stipend to cover expenses

A little about the students and their schedules:
  • Students are 13-17 years old, English-competent, fun, respectful, and excited about their first trip to America! They're polite, tidy, and respectful.
  • Students will be dropped off by families in the mornings before 9 AM and picked up around 5:30 PM. (Carpooling may be available).
  • They will attend English classes in the mornings followed by afternoon activities and excursions. Each family hosts 2 students (either 2 boys or 2 girls) during their short 10-day stay and provide a bedroom, all meals, and American hospitality. There are blowup mattresses available to loan out.
